Error: couldn't open library sss.dll: dlopen(sss.dll, 1): image not found

hello fireshot team

got this error this morning:
Error: couldn't open library sss.dll: dlopen(sss.dll, 1): image not found
In most cases, disabling the anti-virus software or FireShot reinstall helps.

after several tries, even this error message disappears and fireshot is dead.
this is curious, because it worked a few days ago properly.
java is up to date, fire shot reinstalled (several times), no anti-virus is running.
occurs in every different page i opened for a try.

Plugin version (FireShot 0.98.89)
Mac OsX 10.11.6
Firefox: 48.0.1

couldn't open library sss.dll: dlopen(sss.dll, 1): image not found
FSDLLProvider.prototype.init()
fsdllprovider.js:92
FireShot.createCTYPESObject()
fsoverlay.js:612
FireShot.launchJSONFunction()
fsoverlay.js:917
FireShot.initMessaging/<()
fsoverlay.js:1008
FireShotMessaging.receiveMessage()
fsoverlay.js:1477
fsdllprovider.js:92

any help would be appreciated.

Hi friends, can you please tell me, whether this error happens for all URLs or only for the URLs having long pages?

JK, great guess there!

I tested and while it works on short pages URLs, on big pages URLs it gives the error and after the error, FireShot stops working at all and only started working for me after Firefox restart.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, this is the case, when I cannot do anything, because Firefox fails to handle such big screenshots in memory - that's why FireShot tries it's last chance to use the advanced features via sss.dll. Unfortunately, this works only on Windows - that's why you see this message.

The cure for such big pages would be splitting them into parts for capturing. However, this is not implemented in FireShot yet.

You're welcome )

There's a chance, that FireShot for Chrome or Opera handle these pages better.

Just checked, works in Google Chrome.

But would be lovely if you could make it work in Firefox, as it's my default browser.

Oh and what's strange, that it's used to work on big websites about a month ago. Don't know what changed? New Firefox version?

Yes, Firefox goes to multiprocess tabs.

I want to confirm this problem still exists FireShot 0.98.89 on Ubuntu 16.10 running Firefox 53.  I'm usually trying to save entire page to PDF, but it even is broken trying to save just the visible part of a text-only page.

I get the "Error: couldn't open library sss.dll" file even on moderately sized html text file and the message is only reported once per run, after which FireShot is truly disabled as it won't save pages it was willing to do before the message.  Everything that people are reporting above is what I'm seeing.

This seems to be a newish problem because I've used FireShot on pretty large files in the past (last year)  without problem.  If this is a memory problem, why should I be having such trouble with 32GB RAM, GBs of swap and a VM system?

I'll provide additional info if tech support wants anything specific.

BTW, I realize that dll files are typically Windows-specific.  For what it's worth, when I search my system I do a search on my system I find:

$HOME/.mozilla/firefox/<local>/extensions/<local>/library/sss.dll

Which , of course, cannio be executed.

Firefox has some memory limitations (including video memory), even if you have 32G of RAM. That's the case of this problem. A fix to this problem (disabling using the SSS.dll on Linux and Mac) has been pushed to AMO, but it's still under the review (2 weeks so far).
