Save function doesn't work in Firefox 3.0

Hi, I'm on Windows XP Pro SP3 English and since updating to Firefox 3.0 every time I want to save a screenshot of a whole page with FireShot 0.50 even though the file seems to be created fine the file itself does not appear in the directory where I saved it.

Steps to reproduce:

Start Firefox, take a sreenshot with FireShot then save it. Then go to the directory you saved it to and it won't be there.

Also If I try to save the same page using "Take screenshot of the entire page and save" from the tool button menu I get this error unless I change the name of the file before saving it:

FireShot capture n?°X name of file #comments the above file name is invalid

I wonder if this has something to do with my first problem because if I select the option to open directory after export before saving I get a similar error to the one cited above except that at the end it states that the path I've chosen to save to either does not exist or is not a directory.

Any help from you on fixing this problem will be much appreciated

I'm beginning to hate FX 3.0
Too many unknown and non-reproduceable bugs... sad

What about saving to another dir and another name?
Does it happen to all sites?
Any errors in Javascript console?
Did you try searching this file? Possibly it saves it into another place?

Aha! Your question about trying with another directory and/or another name solved my issue.  After adding a new name for the file after the directory name in the "Save image to folder" section in the "Save screenshot to disk" dialog box it worked without a hitch so I'll have to remember to enter one when I save screenshots to that directory from now on.

Which page were you trying to capture?
What file name was erroneous?

I was trying to capture this page: https://museesergelama.hautetfort.com/archive/2007/06/20/lama-coup-de-chapeau-au-general.html#comments

Before I saved it though I cropped the page so only the article on it, which is what I wanted, remained. I wonder if it had something to do with it.

Anyway when I hit "save" it started creating my file then all of a sudden an error box opened in which was written:

The path 'C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\Entrevues et Articles - Serge Lama\Fireshot capture #53 - Lama_coup de chapeau au g?©n?©ral_MUSEE SERGE LAMA' - museesergelama_hautetfort_com_archive_2007_06_20_lama_coup-de-chapeau-au-general_html #commen' does not exist or is not a directory.

I tried again after you asked me if I had tried it with another name. This time after C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\Entrevues et Articles - Serge Lama in the "Save image to folder section" of the "Save screenshot to disk" dialog box I added the new name "Tele Star - 20 juin 2007" and it captured the page I wanted without any problem.

Strange, but this one goes OK for me..

Thanks, could you do me a favor:
I have two theories on what is going wrong and would like to check them.

1. One of the symbols in the original name is prohibited.
I would like to know what symbol in the original name is causing the error. Could you discover that by replacing the symbols (one by one) in the original name by 100% allowed symbol (for example, "-" ) ?

2. The length of the file name is too long.
Please try cropping it and saving (you may delete prohibited symbol, so make sure this theory doesn't mix with the first one in this case)

Thanks in advance.

Because your first theory was going to take quite some time to check, I decided to try your second one about the length of the file name first and it turned out to be the correct one. As a test, I gave my directory a shorter name before trying to capture the page again and it saved with no problem.

I think that since the file name was already quite long  combined with my long named directory it became really too long and could not be saved.
